1 · Who We Are and Scope
This Privacy Policy applies between you, the user of artofhandstands.com and its sub-domains (the "Website"), and Invert Limited, trading as Art of Handstands, the owner and provider of the Website ("we", "us", "our"). It covers all personal data we collect through the Website, our online courses, our email lists, and our checkout.
We are a Hong Kong company and we handle personal data in accordance with the Hong Kong Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) ("PDPO"). Where you are located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we also respect the rights given to you by the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the UK GDPR.
2 · The Data We Collect
Depending on how you use the Website, we may collect:
- your name and email address (when you create an account, join a waitlist, or buy a course);
- billing details you enter at checkout: name, address, city, postal code, country;
- records of purchases and payment plan status. We do not see or store your full card number — payments are processed by our payment providers (see Clause 4);
- your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions, including checkbox confirmations, with the date and time;
- course activity, such as lesson progress and comments you post;
- messages you send us by email or through the Website;
- technical data collected automatically: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and pages visited; and
- cookie information (see Clause 9).
3 · How We Use Your Data and Why We Are Allowed To
We use your data to:
- provide your account and deliver the courses you bought (necessary to perform our contract with you);
- process payments and instalment plans (contract);
- keep records of your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions and defend against payment disputes (our legitimate interests and legal obligations);
- answer your messages and provide support (contract and legitimate interests);
- send you marketing emails about our courses and free resources, where you have signed up for them (consent — you can withdraw it at any time, see Clause 5);
- improve the Website and our courses (legitimate interests); and
- comply with the law, including tax and accounting rules (legal obligation).
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4 · The Service Providers We Share Data With
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run our business. They process your data only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us:
- LearnWorlds — hosts our online school, your account, and your course progress;
- Stripe (and, where offered, PayPal) — process payments. Your card details go directly to them and are protected under their own security standards;
- Brevo — manages our email lists, waitlists, and records of terms acknowledgment forms;
- Google — email correspondence sent to our contact address; and
- video hosting and analytics providers used inside the course player.
Each provider has its own privacy policy and appropriate safeguards. We remain responsible for your data when these providers process it for us.
5 · Marketing Emails
We send marketing emails only to people who signed up for them — for example, a waitlist or a free resource. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails but not essential service emails, such as purchase receipts or important information about a course you own.
6 · How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account and course data: for as long as your account exists. Courses come with lifetime access, so accounts are kept until you ask us to delete yours.
- Purchase records and terms-acceptance records: at least seven (7) years, for tax, accounting, and dispute-defence purposes.
- Marketing list data: until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
7 · International Transfers
We are based in Hong Kong, and our service providers store data in various regions, including the United States and the European Union. Where data of EU or UK users is transferred internationally, our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
8 · Your Rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you — free of charge;
- correct data that is wrong or out of date;
- delete your data, where we have no legal reason to keep it (note: purchase and terms-acceptance records are kept for the period in Clause 6);
- withdraw consent to marketing at any time;
- receive a copy of the data you gave us in a portable format (EU/UK users); and
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests (EU/UK users).
To use any of these rights, email info@artofhandstands.com. We respond within the time required by applicable law (40 days under the PDPO; one month under the GDPR).
9 · Cookies
The Website uses cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Website is used. When you first visit, you can choose which non-essential cookies to accept through the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings or your browser. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the Website — such as the course player and checkout — from working.
10 · Security
We protect your data with appropriate physical, electronic, and organisational measures, and we choose service providers that do the same. Payment card data is handled exclusively by our payment providers under PCI-DSS standards. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take the protection of your data seriously.
11 · Children and Minors
Our courses are physical training programmes intended for adults. A person under 18 may only use our courses where a parent or legal guardian has accepted our Terms and Conditions on their behalf and supervises training. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without such consent — if you believe a child has provided us data without it, contact us and we will delete it.
12 · Business Transfers
If our business, or part of it, is sold or transferred, user data relevant to that part may be transferred with it. The new owner will be bound by this Policy in respect of that data, and we will inform you of any such transfer where the law requires it.
13 · Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always published on this page. If a change significantly affects how we use your personal data, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
14 · Contacting Us and Complaints
For any question about this Policy or your data, contact info@artofhandstands.com.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to a supervisory authority: in Hong Kong, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD); in the EU or UK, your local data protection authority.
